Opus Retail Solutions is thrilled to announce our partnership with the iconic entertainment retailer, HMV. In addition to their 120 UK stores HMV has expanded into Europe in the last 12 months opening new stores in Dublin, Antwerp & Brussels, with more new stores in the pipeline. We are proud to have been chosen by HMV as the POS provider for their European stores.
Richard Hanlon, HMV’s Technical Services Manager, stated, “Opus were selected as our future POS provider for our EU stores after an extensive search and discovery process where a number of solutions were reviewed. Opus stood out from the rest offering a solution with great flexibility and hitting all deliverables that we required.”
The Solution
The first HMV European store in Dublin recently celebrated its first anniversary. Despite a tight deadline, the technical teams at Opus and HMV delivered a solution that ensured a smooth opening and a successful first year. Richard remarked, “Opus faced a stringent timeline to develop and integrate a POS solution into our existing systems, including a new integration with our chosen Payment Provider. We were impressed with the delivery, hitting every target, and providing excellent support throughout the opening weekend, ensuring the store launch was a great success.”
Following Dublin, HMV expanded to mainland Europe, with stores opening in Antwerp in November 2023 and Brussels in April 2024. All three stores have given only positive feedback in regard to Retail Manager & the Opus team. Richard commented, “Our expansion into Europe continued with Opus tailoring the solution to the Belgian market. Opus provided comprehensive support in development, configuration, and logistics, swiftly handling courier and customs challenges, allowing us to focus on other deliverables.”
At Opus Retail Solutions, we pride ourselves on developing and delivering bespoke software customisations alongside our core systems to enhance the overall solution. For HMV, we customised credit/debit card processing and product and sales interfacing to their core systems, both critical for the go-live day. Rich said, “Any challenges that we have presented Opus with have been received well and integrations with both our Internal systems and Third Party Providers have been delivered quickly.”
Future Projects and Commitment
We remain committed to meeting HMV’s needs in the evolving retail landscape. Future projects include Mobile POS (Handheld) and live event management, with the long-term goal of implementing our systems in all UK and European stores. Rich added, “Opus has proven their capability with our EU stores, and we have developed a strong working relationship over the past 16 months. We aim to extend this to our 121 UK stores, modernising our solution across our estate. We will continue discussions throughout 2024 to further this partnership.”
