Background:
Since 2014, Rebellion Beer Company has relied on OPUS Retail Solutions to manage our shop sales and event transactions. Over the years, OPUS has continually enhanced their system with various modules and add-ons tailored specifically to our unique business processes.
Challenge:
On March 18th, when pubs, cafes, hotels, and restaurants were forced to close, we lost 80% of our business. The remaining 20% came from retail sales through our shop and events, which were also affected by cancellations and closures. With a strong local following, we needed to find new ways to quickly deliver our beer and other products to our customers.
Solution:
OPUS Retail Solutions swiftly adapted our POS software, enabling us to implement three crucial services:

Drive-Through Service:

- Using Android tablets, we took customer orders and updated them on the system via Wi-Fi.
- Orders were displayed on large screens with car registration and descriptions, allowing for efficient order preparation and loading.
- Payments were processed using a Wi-Fi Paymentsense card machine, ensuring contactless transactions.
- At peak times, we served over 900 cars in a single day.
2. Home Delivery Service

- Orders were received over the phone, with payments taken immediately.
- Data for the next day’s deliveries was exported from the Opus system to our routing software, generating detailed picking lists and delivery details for handheld devices.
- AFD Postcode checking software was integrated to ensure accurate deliveries.
- We implemented a bespoke scanning system for our serial-number-tracked Mini Barrels, managing both outbound and return logistics efficiently.
- Invoices were automatically emailed to customers following delivery.
3. Online Sales
- We introduced a feature allowing free delivery for orders within certain postcodes, integrating these with our home delivery system.
- Orders outside these areas were managed by couriers, with data merged seamlessly with our home delivery operations.
Additional Enhancements:
- Wine Click and Collect System: Currently using our POS system, OPUS is developing a Click and Collect module to enhance this service. An interactive wine database has been created for staff and customer use, with plans to integrate it into our website.
- Membership Module: Manages 4,500 active members, tracking membership types, expiry dates, tour usage, and gift information.
- Tour Module: Facilitates quick bookings for up to 1,000 people on tour nights, linked with the Membership module for seamless management.
- Mini Barrel Module: Tracks returnable barrels, sending texts and emails to manage outstanding items.
- Gift Card Module: Enhances our sales and promotional capabilities.
- Event-Specific Tills: Adapted for high-speed service at events and specific pick-up areas during Christmas.
- RMobile: Used for efficient stock checks and price verification.
- Custom Management Reports: Numerous bespoke reports have been developed to meet our specific business needs.
