We have used OPUS Retail Solutions since 2014 for our shop sales and our events. In the intervening
years they have added various modules & add-ons that mean we have a system which has been
tailored to meet our unique business processes.
On the 18 th of March when pubs, cafes, hotels and restaurants were shut we lost 80% of its business
The remaining 20% of our business consisted of Retail sales through our shop and events. Events
were cancelled and shops were also closed.
We have a strong local following and decided we had to look at new ways of getting our beer and
other products to our customers quickly
Opus Retail Solutions helped us adapt our POS software very quickly and efficiently in 3 main areas
Drive Through
RMobile using Android tablets are used to take the customers’ orders, these are saved and
updated on the system by wi-fi. Orders are listed on large screens with the car registration
and brief description of car. Using the sale and recall function pickling lists are produced and
teams of pickers, pick the orders and load the cars, payment is then taken via a wi-fi
Paymentsense card machine. The customer does not leave his car. At busy times we have
served 900+ cars in a day
Home Delivery Service
Using the goods on reserve module, orders are received over the phone and payment taken.
A routine was written for us so at the end of the day, data relating to the next day’s
deliveries is exported from the Opus system to routing system software which produces
detailed picking lists per van and all delivery details which are in turn downloaded to Hand
held devices.
AFD Post code checking software was integrated into the POS software to ensure accurate
deliveries
A bespoke scanning in and out of our serial number tracked Mini Barrels was written for us
whereby the barrels are scanned out at the customers premises, any returns are scanned in.
On return to base the data is uploaded via wi-fi
The day following delivery the orders are converted to sales, a copy of the invoice is
automatically emailed to the customers
Online Sales
We have incorporated into our online sales a facility whereby if the address is within certain
post codes it can be delivered free of charge, we then add these orders to our home delivery
orders. Orders outside the area are sent by courier
The data is exported as above and merged with the home deliveries
Wine Click and collect system
We are using the current POS system at present, however OPUS are developing a Click and
Collect module which will enhance the offer
An interactive wine data base has been produced for us, which is a great tool for staff and
customers, in time this will be added to the website
OPUS Retail Solutions have helped us turn our business round. I would personally like to thank Niall

Since 2014 Opus have added various modules and addons that are unique to our business. These
include:
- Membership Module: 4500 active members at present recording type of membership,
expiry dates, tour usage and gift information - Tour Module: This is used for booking people in very quickly on our tour nights, up to a 1000
people in the summer months in a very short time. It also records how many tours a
member has used and how many he has left and links in with the Membership module. - Emails and texts can be sent to all members, or members whose membership is say expiring
this month.
Mini Barrel Module: We supply returnable barrels to our members and non-members,
members foc and non-member a £25 deposit. The module tracks and reports by way of
serial nos all mini barrels outstanding, again we can use texts and emails to chase o/s mini

- Tills have been adapted for use at events where we have served customers at high speed
- Tills have been adapted at Xmas where we have specific pick up and collect areas
- RMobile is used for stock checks and price checking
- Numerous bespoke management reports have been written for us
